God of War, mejor juego de 2018, triunfa en The Game Awards
God of War toma el testigo de The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild como nuevo mejor juego del año en The Game Awards y mejor juego de aventura y acción. El juego de Santa Monica Studios, dirigido por Cory Balrog (también premiado), es el triunfador de una noche en la que Red Dead Redemption 2 ganó en número de estatuillas (cuatro), pero no logró el premio más prestigioso. Por detrás, les siguen Fortnite y Celeste, que empataron con dos galardones cada uno.
En el apartado de los deportes electrónicos, cabe destacar las victorias de Dominique 'SonicFox' McLean como mejor jugador, de Cloud9 como mejor equipo y Bok 'Reapered' Han-gyu (Cloud9) como mejor entrenador.
También el espectáculo que rodea a un evento de esports ha sido premiado en The Game Awards. Eefje 'Sjokz' Depoortere ha sido elegida mejor presentadora, Overwatch mejor juego de esports y los Worlds de League of Legends mejor torneo.
Como viene siendo habitual, la ceremonia no ha sido solo una entrega de premios, sino también un espacio para la música, entrevistas y anuncios como los nuevos Dragon Age, Mortal Kombat 11, The Outer Worlds, Far Cry New Dawn o Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled, entre muchos otros.
